the beer engine

Located just a stone’s throw from Exeter in the picturesque village of Newton St Cyres, Devon’s oldest working brew pub can be found housed in a 19th Century coaching inn.

Our aim is to provide outstanding seasonal food and relaxed friendly service in a traditional pub atmosphere.

food & drink

The bar area is a warm and cosy space welcoming drinkers, diners and dogs alike with five home brewed ales on our hand pumps, local ciders, lagers, speciality gins, malt whiskeys and a wide selection of wines and spirits to work your way through. Bar snacks are available throughout the day.

The dining room, adjacent to the bar offers a quieter and more personal dining experience, ideal for any occasion.

brewery

Just down the stairs, the working brew house can be viewed in its entirety enabling you the opportunity to see how we create our beers.

The viewing gallery is attractively decorated with Beer Engine memorabilia offering you an entertaining insight into the evolution of the Pub & Brewery.

beer garden

During the warmer months, the pub extends to a split level garden which enjoys the afternoon and evening sunshine; it is the perfect place to while away a summer’s day.

Parking can be found at the front and the rear of the building for both cars and bicycles with step free access through the front door.

Reservations are welcomed and recommended and we look forward to seeing you soon.
